Applications are now open for the 2026 3-Minute Thesis Competition, which gives undergraduate student researchers the opportunity to present their findings on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
The 3-Minute Thesis Competition challenges students to explain their research to a general audience in just three minutes using a single slide.
“While conducting research, it is important to pay attention to every detail. The 3MT challenges undergraduate researchers to step back to tell the story of their research project and its importance to the broader community,” said Claire Swiegart, Program Director of High Impact Practices. “It is a very fun challenge in a supportive environment, and participants receive constructive feedback from faculty and grad student reviewers.”

The 2026 Ohio State 3-Minute Thesis Competition will occur in Thompson Library Multipurpose Room 165 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Faculty, staff, students, family members, and friends are welcome to attend and support undergraduate researchers as they share their work.
