Situating Your Research Series

The Situating Your Research Series emphasizes knowledge and skills that benefit students in the display and articulation of their undergraduate research experiences. By participating in this series, students have opportunities to:

  • Critically evaluate extant literature and research
  • Create a narrative about their research
  • Design a poster that reflects their research
  • Build relationships with students and staff at Ohio State

The series is open to students of all levels who have an interest in building their skills and knowledge of undergraduate research at Ohio State. For more upcoming events from UR&CI, see our events page. Additional relevant workshops are also offered by the University Libraries and the Health Sciences Library.

Situating Your Research: Writing an Abstract and Research Presentation

Finalizing your application to present at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum? Join the Writing Center for a mid-week workshop on writing effective abstracts. We'll review key elements of the genre, including its audience, purpose, and organization, and provide tips for writing your abstracts, which you'll be apply to apply to this and future research contexts.

Situating Your Research: Tips and Tricks for Setting up your Research Poster

Developing a scientific research poster can be a complex but rewarding task. This step in the research process requires you to create a visual narrative of your research to supplement your presentation. Creating an engaging, user friendly and informative poster takes time. During this workshop, you will be provided with practical and effective strategies for successfully designing a research poster. We will also discuss resources you can use to develop your poster and tips to help you present your research.
