Amanda Morris, ’12, ‘18
President
Amanda Morris joined the Denman Scholars Alumni Society Board in 2025 and is the current president of the organization. Amanda is a lifelong Ohio resident, growing up in central Ohio before graduating from The Ohio State University in 2012 with a B.S. in Human Ecology and minors in Sociology and Sexuality Studies. During her undergraduate career, she served as an Undergraduate Research Office Peer Research Contact, presented at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum in 2011, and was VP of the Student Association for Families, Children, and Lifespan Development from 2011-2012. Amanda returned to OSU in 2015 to attend The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2018. While at Moritz, Amanda was an Admissions Fellow, Moot Court clerk, Ohio State Law Journal Staff Editor, and a member of various law societies and programs.
Since 2018, Amanda has served as an attorney at Perez & Morris LLC at its headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. She specializes in business litigation, employment, logistics & transportation, property loss & subrogation, and premises liability. She has been the recipient of The Best Lawyers in America®, Ones to Watch, 2023 – present, as well as Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine, Ohio Rising Star, 2023 – present.
Amanda lives in Columbus with her fiancé, Collin. They enjoy attending all OSU home football games and as many post-season games as they can; concerts; and weekly pub trivia (go team Know It Ales!). Amanda currently serves on the Board of the Ohio Women’s Bar Foundation and the Ohio Women’s Bar Association as the Liaison to both. She is also an active member in many local and national organizations, including Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD), RIMS the Risk Management Society, and CBUS Retail. She currently leads the Perez & Morris Emerging Leaders group, as well as the firm’s Wellness Committee. Amanda looks forward to further connecting and giving back to the Denman Alumni community.
Jonathan Zuhosky, ‘06
Vice-President and Secretary
Jonathan Zuhosky is the Service Coordination Records Manager at the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, where he manages electronic records for more than 12,000 active cases and has led major digitization, training, and records-management initiatives. He also conducts HIPAA training statewide and develops records policies and retention procedures. Jonathan holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University and graduated from The Ohio State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Michael Newbern, ‘14
Treasurer
Mike Newbern joined the Denman Scholars Alumni Society Board in 2026 and is the current treasurer. Mike moved to Ohio after his service in the United States Navy as a nuclear mechanic on submarines before graduating from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering in 2014. As an undergraduate, Mike won the student project competition at the 2014 Society of Industrial Engineers Mid-West Regional Conference and was invited to present at the International Conference of the same year. He also presented a separate paper at the Association of Private Enterprise in Education International Conference in the same year.
Since 2014, Mike worked as a quality and the project engineer for Whirlpool before moving into quality management at Samuel Associated Tube Group. Mike also ran for the Ohio Statehouse in 2014, a campaign he started while finishing up his studies.
Mike currently lives in Gadsden, AL with his two dogs Brutus and Rosie. He enjoys two pilgrimages back to his Alma Mater, once to panel the Denman and another to attend a Buckeye Football Game. Mike looks forward to connecting with and giving back to the Denman community.
