Project Description
Join a dynamic research team investigating how innate immune cells (such as mast cells, neutrophils, and macrophages) regulate wound healing, inflammation, and tissue regeneration in the skin, eye, and lung. This work integrates basic immunology with clinically relevant questions, offering exposure to both fundamental science and translational research.
Students will work closely with the PI, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD trainees in a highly collaborative environment. They will gain hands-on experience with a wide range of experimental approaches, including in vivo animal models, in vitro cell culture, tissue processing, immunostaining, microscopy, and molecular biology techniques. Depending on their interests, students may also participate in data analysis and contribute to ongoing research projects.
Motivated students may have the opportunity to take on independent projects, present their work at departmental research events (Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dermatology at OSU) and external scientific meetings (e.g., Wound Healing Society), and contribute to publications. Participation in lab meetings and mentorship will further support the development of scientific thinking, experimental design, and career planning.
