Project Description
This research position is designed to leverage the power of AI and LLM models to analyze the text of life stories as recorded in 20th and 21st century funeral programs. The goal of the study is to develop methods that allow for quantification of life events, socioeconomic characteristics, education, occupation, family status, and life course from end of life narratives. Information contained in funeral sources will subsequently be matched to census and other administrative records to see how family recordings of life histories diverge from administrative sources.
Required Applicant Information
Provide a campus transcript, resume, and statement of relevant experience.
Required or Desired Skills
Experience with AI queries, text as data analysis, and advanced statistics are required. Knowledge of programming languages such as python preferred.
