Project Description
The objective of this volunteer undergraduate position is to assist, and independently run experiments, particularly focused on genotyping mice used in cystic fibrosis models, as well as human airway cultures grown in the lab. Tasks that undergrads will be trained in include mice genotyping (DNA extractions, PCR and gel electrophoresis), mycoplasma detection in cell cultures (PCR), and data/video analysis. Extra tasks will include general lab chores (e.g. prepping solutions, autoclaving, health/safety checks). Opportunities to shadow/assist in other experiments will be available. Students are also invited to join lab journal club/meetings. Students will complete initial lab health & safety training, and will be trained in all techniques until they can be proficiently independent.
