Are you an undergraduate student with a passion for research and a need for financial support? Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry (UR&CI) is now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP)!
Last year, 16 students were selected to participate in the 2024–2025 URAP cohort. This year, UR&CI excited to offer the same level of funding and support to a new group of students for the upcoming academic year.
"Last year we launched our first Fall/Spring URAP, emphasizing research projects in the arts, humanities, and other disciplines that have been historically underrepresented in our summer program. This year we are looking forward to funding more exciting projects and fostering a thriving community of undergraduate researchers,” said Dr. Ashley Ostroot, Academic Success and Enrichment Specialist.
What is URAP?
URAP is a program that provides funding and professional development for undergraduate students engaged in faculty-mentored research. It is designed to support students in disciplines where research opportunities are limited during the summer months.
Key Benefits:
- Financial support for research during the academic year
- Mentorship from faculty in your field of interest
- Professional development workshops led by UR&CI's campus partner
- Opportunities to build your resume and prepare for graduate school or future careers
URAP is open to students from all majors and research areas, with a focus on those who demonstrate financial need. Each year, 15 students are selected through a competitive process to participate in both the fall and spring semesters.

2024–2025 participant Trey Worthen shared how URAP reshaped his view of research in the arts:
“Participating in [URAP], both through the course and the hands-on filmmaking process, gave me a new perspective on what “research” can look like, especially within the arts. I didn’t initially think of my short film as research. It wasn’t until later, through the course and reflecting on my process, that I began to understand the legitimacy and value of arts-based research and how deeply connected it is to exploring human behavior, emotion, and social dynamics.”
Apply Early
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to apply as soon as their materials are ready. The final deadline is August 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
