Project Description
The undergraduate student researcher will conduct research with Dr. Pomeroy to investigate infectious diseases in wild birds. The position will including reading scientific literature, analyzing data, visualizing data, coding in R, and presenting results as a scientific poster, oral presentation, and written document. The work will be mostly computer-based research.
Additional Information
This position will also allow students to interact with Dr. Jarzyna, a faculty member in EEOB with expertise in wild birds. This research could serve as a capstone experience or honors capstone experience. It could also contribute to an undergraduate or honors thesis allowing students to graduate with research distinction. However, students do not need to use this research for a capstone or thesis. Required or Desired Skills
At least one college-level biology course is required; two biology courses – including MICROBIOLOGY 4000 or a similar course – is preferred. Applicants should have a willingness to do computer-based work with data.
