Project Description
Our laboratory studies how neural circuits create behavior using the tiny roundworm C. elegans as a model. We also develop innovative tools for C. elegans research. We have developed a robot that uses machine vision and automation to perform complex genetic manipulations in these animals, which will open many new avenues of biological and biomedical research. The student will contribute toward a new version of this robot that is faster, capable of a wider range of tasks, and is more compact. Tasks may include mechanical design and construction, 3D printing, computer programming, worm handling, wet lab work.
