Who is eligible to participate in the 23rd Annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum?

Undergraduate students enrolled at any OSU campus are eligible to apply for a presentation slot at the Denman Forum.  We welcome submissions from undergraduate students of any rank or academic discipline.

Students enrolled in a joint BS/MS program are considered an undergraduate student during their first four years of enrollment at The Ohio State University.

What are the submission guidelines for the 23rd Annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum?

Students may only submit one individually-authored abstract. However, students may submit an additional abstract as part of a larger group project.

Students may submit an abstract for research or a creative project conducted at another institution and/or supervised by a non-OSU faculty member.

When and how will students present their work at the 23rd Annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum?

1. There will be three (3) presentation sessions throughout the day.

Session times are as follows: Session 1 (8:00-11:00 am), Session 2 (11:00 am-2:00 pm) and Session 3 (2:00-5:00 pm).  During the application submission process, students will identify their preferred presentation session.  Students will be assigned to a presentation session on a first-come, first served basis. As there are a limited number of presentation slots available per session, students are encouraged to submit their application early to ensure the best chance of receiving their preferred presentation session.

2. Students can select to present their work as either an oral (podium) or poster presentation.

Oral PresentationStudents will create a slide presentation about their project.  Oral presentations will be 15-minutes in length (10-minute presentation and 5-minute question and answer period).  Oral presentation sessions will be facilitated by moderator.  At least two faculty judges will be in the audience during each oral presentation.

Poster PresentationStudents will create and print a poster about their project.  Posters will be displayed on a large easel.  At least two faculty judges will visit students, at their poster, over the course of the two-hour session.

What faculty approval process is in place for the 23rd Annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum?

The final step of the Denman Forum application process (Section VII:  Student's Electronic Signature) requires that students certify that their research mentor(s) has (have) reviewed and approved the submission for a presentation.  Students are required to complete the following section:
